Claude as a Language Tutor — 8 Prompts for Fluency
Threads post by @agentprompts.ai: ”🚨 BREAKING: Claude can now teach you a NEW LANGUAGE like a $150/hour tutor. For free. These 8 prompts take you from zero → real conversations”
A pipeline of 8 prompts covering the full learning loop — planning → vocabulary → conversation → grammar → pronunciation → immersion → drill → review. Each ends with a [insert] slot for your language/level.
The 8 prompts
- The Fluency Roadmap System — tutor + curriculum designer. Builds a six-month plan to hold real conversations: analyzes current level, motivation, daily free time and target situations; designs weekly themes, a daily 15-minute routine, vocabulary priorities, monthly checkpoints.
- The Core Vocabulary Engine — linguist. Picks the first ~300 words unlocking everyday conversation, grouped by situation, ordered by usefulness, each cluster with three model sentences — plus a spaced-repetition schedule “so I actually retain them… instead of forgetting by Friday.”
- The Conversation Simulator — patient native speaker. Holds a simple in-level conversation about real situations (ordering food, meeting someone), keeps replies short, corrects mistakes gently on a separate line, raises difficulty as you improve.
- The Grammar Untangler — grammar coach who hates jargon. Explains one stuck pattern plainly with three examples, gives five fill-in-the-blank drills, checks answers, names the most common learner mistake with it.
- The Pronunciation Fixer — pronunciation coach. For sounds English speakers find hardest: mouth-shaping instructions, familiar-English approximations, drill phrases, plus the words you’ll say most that contain them.
- The Immersion Builder — immersion coach. Designates shows/music/accounts at your level, relabels phone/surroundings, and turns dead time into a daily 15-minute habit — no country move required.
- The Shadowing Drill — fluency coach. Supplies an in-level passage broken into phrases; coaches repeat-after-me matching rhythm/intonation over a week’s practice plan.
- The Weekly Progress Review — Friday language coach. Runs five everyday use-it prompts, assesses grammar/vocabulary/confidence, reports two improvements + one weakness + next week’s focus, ends with a small challenge.
Notes
- Funnel close: “Want all 250+ prompts in one place? It’s free in my bio” — this post is the free sample of the account’s prompt library.
- Best top-level reply pushes back — and the original author liked it: “Learning a language doesn’t require a page-long prompt. ‘Teach me Spanish from scratch’ is a perfectly clear request. A good AI should ask the right follow-up questions… Clear communication matters more than prompt theatrics.” Worth holding alongside the 8-prompt format.
