6 Lessons from Leaving Google to Become a Full-Time Entrepreneur
Post by: Jade Bonacolta — Ranked #1 Female Creator on LinkedIn, Founder of The Quiet Rich™, Ex-Google
1. The fear never really goes away
You just learn to do it anyway. Waited years to quit because I thought I needed to feel “ready.” Spoiler: ready never shows up.
2. You’re going to work all the time, but it will never feel like work
I “work” every day — evenings, weekends, even vacations. Burnout isn’t about working too hard. It’s about working too hard on things you don’t care about.
3. Your first price is too low. Double it.
If you don’t know what you’re worth, no one else will. Low prices don’t build loyalty — customers just value you less.
4. You’ll surprisingly miss the structure of a 9-5
You need systems in your life. A system for posting online, time blocking your calendar, a routine of working outside your house.
5. There will be (well-intended) doubters
Even when you’re already earning more from your side hustle than your 9-5. You can always get another job in tech. But you’ll always wonder what could have happened if you bet on yourself.
6. The right tools can save you hours every week
You don’t actually have to work 80 hours a week as a founder. Vibe coding tools like Replit can build, test, and deploy an app in a single weekend by typing what you want.
