The Problem
“Right now, anybody can build a mobile app with AI, but getting people to actually download it — that’s where everyone gets stuck.”
The Solution: Organic UGC Playbook
Step 1: Understand Your Audience (15-30 min)
Create a target user persona:
- Name, age, pain points, wants
- What type of content they already consume
- The more specific your targeting, the better your organic resonance
Step 2: Warm Up Your Account (2-3 days)
Don’t search for your product name. Instead search for your audience’s pain points:
Example: For an AI note-taking app → search “how to study for biology” on TikTok.
- Engage with all those videos (like, comment, save, share, repost)
- Train the algorithm to think your account IS that student
- Then your posted videos will reach other students studying biology
Key: Spend ~2 min scrolling + engaging on the For You page before each post to avoid being flagged as a bot.
Step 3: Create Content — 3 Video Styles
Option 1: Solution/Explanation
- Lead with the pain point, not the product name
- Hook: “How come nobody told me that this was how everybody was getting straight A’s?”
- Let the product demo do the talking
- Don’t drop the product name immediately — let comments ask for it
Option 2: Long Text (6-sec video)
- Face on camera + copy text overlay
- Works for conversational, relatable content
- Ask questions, spark comments
- Goal: get people commenting “What app is that?” or “How did you do that?”
- Highest conversion rate because it feels most organic
Option 3: Storytelling
- Think story first, weave product in second
- Example: Quizlet creator told a story about a TikTok girl working in a coffee shop → naturally transitioned to flipping flash cards → score going up
- Never feels like an ad
Step 4: Posting Strategy
| Phase | Timeline | Metrics |
|---|---|---|
| Week 1-2 | Post 2-3x/day | Videos in low thousands of views |
| Week 3 | Iterate on what converts | First “breakout” video (10K+ views) |
| Week 4 | Double down on winning formats | 3+ breakout videos |
| Week 5 | Pattern recognition | First viral video |
| Week 8 | Scale | Multiple million+ view videos |
Golden rules:
- Space each video by at least 2 hours (don’t dump all at once)
- Scroll + engage for 2 min on For You page before each post
- Don’t repost the exact same video — recreate the copy with different visuals
- First weeks optimize for conversions/comments, not virality
- Good signal: organic comments like “Oh, what app is that?”
