I Edited a Full Reel in 8 Minutes — AI Pipeline with Claude Code + Remotion

By: CrisCatalyst

I edited a full reel in eight minutes today. No Premiere, no CapCut. Just an AI pipeline built with Claude Code and Remotion.

A threaded breakdown of how an AI-driven editing pipeline turns raw footage into a finished vertical video in about eight minutes — work that used to take two to three hours in a traditional editor.

  1. Cut dead air automatically — the pipeline listens to the raw clip and finds every long pause and filler word, then cuts them out so the dead air is gone before you even watch it back.
  2. Transcribe + burn in captions — it transcribes the audio and adds captions in the author’s exact style. Font and timing are set once and reused on every video.
  3. Layer in effects — zooms on key lines and small visual beats that keep viewers watching past the third second.
  4. Finished in 8 minutes — a complete vertical video ready to post, where the same edit used to take two to three hours.

The point isn’t selling the pipeline — it’s that the mechanical parts of editing don’t have to burn you out. The pipeline handles the mechanical work and leaves the creative taste (which cut lands, which hook earns the open) to the human.

Key Points

  • Claude Code + Remotion pipeline: audio listening → auto-cut → captions → effects → finished reel in ~8 minutes.
  • Cuts long pauses and filler words automatically; reuses one caption style across videos.
  • Mechanical editing is automated; creative judgment stays with the editor.
