In this episode of A Changed Mind, David Bayer reveals a paradigm-shifting truth about time, vision, and manifestation: your future isn’t something you’re inventing—it’s something you’re remembering. Drawing from the wisdom of mystics like Neville Goddard and the science of consciousness, David dismantles the conventional approach to goal-setting and shows you why the moment you start “trying to figure it out,” you push your future away.
Using a powerful analogy from the film Arrival, David illustrates how time may not actually be linear—and how the visions, hunches, and inspirations you experience aren’t products of imagination, but glimpses of a timeline that already exists. He breaks down why two versions of you can have the exact same vision, take similar actions, yet produce vastly different results. The difference? One identity knows the outcome is already done. The other is striving to create it. That two-millimeter distinction is everything.
At the heart of this episode is one of David’s most powerful frameworks: Desire + Non-Resistance = Desired Result. He explains why hustle, grind, and forcing your way forward are actually forms of resistance that keep you swimming upstream—visiting points on your timeline called “not yet quite there” instead of arriving at the outcome itself. Like a donkey chasing a carrot on a stick, most people stay in perpetual pursuit because their brain treats the goal as something in the future rather than something already complete.
This episode is a masterclass in identity-level transformation. David shows you how to shift from the frequency of “figuring it out” to the frequency of receiving—how to take daily action in relationship to your visio
Key Insights
Most people have a vision of what they want their future to look like, something they imagine, a goal, a dream. And most people think they’re coming up with an idea of what the future could look like someday. But what if that’s not what’s happening at all? What if time doesn’t work the [music] way you think it does? And the vision you have for your future isn’t something that you’re imagining, but something you’re remembering. And the big mistake most people make is from that moment they start trying to [music] figure out how to get there. So here’s the real question. What if what you want is already done? And the only real problem is that you don’t yet realize it. In this episode, I’m going to show you how time actually works backwards, [music] why your vision is not made up, it’s a memory, and why the more you try to force figuring it out, the more you actually push your future away. So, let’s get into it. All right, guys. So most people, I think it’s really common, think that a a vision or a hunch or an inspiration is something that they’re inventing or creating. But if we look to the great mystics and the teachers, what they said was that everything that has ever happened has already occurred. In other words, creation is finished and you’re just waiting for that which you desire to materialize into your reality. And they said that the key to unlocking that future is to align yourself with the outcome that’s already there. Now, I’m going to explain this word salad for you and start with a story. There’s a great movie called Arrival where Amy Adams, she’s the actress, she plays a linguist who’s brought in by the government to learn how to communicate with an alien species. And what’s fascinating is that their language isn’t linear. It doesn’t move from beginning to end in a sentence like ours does. They speak in symbols and each symbol they use contains the entire message all at once. The past, the present and the future. And so what happens is that as she starts to learn their language, something unexpected occurs. She doesn’t start predicting the future. She actually starts remembering it because her mind is no longer processing time as a straight line. It’s processing it as something that already exists in full. Now, I want you to sit with this for a second. Okay? If time isn’t strictly linear, then it’s not unreasonable to consider that the vision that you have for your life, the moment where you can see it clearly isn’t something that you’re inventing. It’s something that you’re becoming aware of that already exists. So, if that’s true, then the game isn’t figuring out how to get there. It’s learning how to relate to the version of you that you must become in order for that future to become a reality here and now. Now, here’s a right or downer. The future isn’t something that you create. It’s something that you become aware of. Now, I want you to imagine in your mind a timeline of your life, right? All [snorts] the way to the left is the past. Then in the middle, you’ve got the present moment and all the way to the right is your future. Now, if I ask you to remember something in the past, you’d call it a memory, right? You have a memory from your childhood. It’s in your past and you have the ability to remember it, right? It just makes sense. But I want you to take that timeline and I want you to now imagine you’ve turned it into a circle. And here you are in your present moment on one point in the circle. Right? Imagine that. And I can ask you to do the same thing. I can say remember that childhood memory. And you’d see it on another point in the circle. But your future also sits on that circle. And so what I’m saying is that it’s just as valid for me to ask you to remember something in your past as it is to remember something in your future because it all sits on the same timeline. So you have the ability to do that. In fact, you do it all the time. You have thoughts of your future, right? You have a vision for your f
